Tourism facilities in the region focus mainly on Game Lodges, safaris and other Big 5 Activities with a growing demand for other adventure activities including white water rafting, birding, hiking, quad bike trails and more.

There is a large number of conservation and wildlife activities in the region from large private reserves to smaller conservancies and related projects

AGRICULTURE

Agriculture is one of the largest income generators in the region with largely Mango and citrus farmers.  The majority of the fruit from this area is packed for the export market

RESEARCH

Due to the presence of the vast environmental regions together with the close proximity of poverty stricken communities, there are a large number of research activities and organizations that occur in the region

Many people come to the region to learn more about the environment, conservation and related topics at any one of the many different facilities established in the region.

SAFETY & SECURITY

Hoedspruit has always been a very safe & secure environment, however, with the onset of 1 or 2 major incidents  occurring in recent years, Hoedspruit has taken a very proactive stance & established a strong community policing program as well as additional support groups such as the Hoedspruit Victim’s Support Unit.
